Our aims

Children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at our school. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported, and able to thrive. Wellbeing is woven into daily school life through positive relationships, a strong pastoral support system, and a curriculum that promotes emotional literacy, resilience, and self-confidence.

Our staff work closely with families and external agencies to ensure that children’s mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing is prioritised and we regularly review our practices to meet the evolving needs of our pupils.

By fostering a culture of care and belonging, we empower children to flourish both in and beyond the classroom.

Our aims for children's wellbeing at Langley Park are to provide:

  • a sense of belonging and safety

  • smooth transitions from one type of activity to another

  • appropriate expressions of emotion and ways to manage emotional regulation

  • respectful communication

  • supportiveness and responsiveness to individual children and their needs

  • tolerance and respect for the diversity of individuals in the school community

Staff Wellbeing

At our school, staff wellbeing is a key priority, recognised as essential to creating a positive and nurturing environment for both children and adults.

We actively support wellbeing through a dedicated team of Staff Wellbeing Champions, who promote a culture of care, connection, and support among colleagues. These champions help facilitate wellbeing initiatives, offer a listening ear, and encourage open conversations around mental health and work-life balance. Our Staff Wellbeing Champions are:

  • Mrs Kennedy (Early Years)
  • Mrs Robson (KS1)
  • Mrs Geddes (KS2)

Our Staff Wellbeing Champions meet termly with the other Wellbeing Champions from each school within our Trust (SLP) to discuss latest initiatives, Trust-wide wellbeing developments and to offer a staff voice for our school.

Our approach to staff wellbeing is further strengthened by our commitment to the SLP Wellbeing Charter, which outlines clear principles and practices to ensure staff feel valued, respected, and supported in their roles.

Together, these efforts help foster a workplace where wellbeing is embedded in everyday practice, enabling staff to thrive both personally and professionally.
